Friends,
As the fall equinox approaches, I wanted to take a moment to share an update on T.R.E.E.’s efforts to prepare for a new season of working with children and educators who are excited about connecting with the science going on all around us that governs our planet. Even though the science content of our programs is factual, teaching it is truly educational theater. T.R.E.E.’s main stages are the forests of Southeast Louisiana.
Our stage crew consists of about a dozen Earth Educators whose practiced performances, solid understanding of science, and love of the outdoors inspire an appreciation of the natural world. Most important is the cast of New Orleans Metro Area students.
While our future participants are settling into their own teachers’ creative playbooks, T.R.E.E.’s stage crew is working diligently to prepare for opening day. Our playmakers have encountered plenty of setbacks this year (increased costs, impacted forests, damaged infrastructure, you name it, it’s happened), but the show must go on!
It takes artistry and deep study to both teach and engage children in science. It is hard work but so worth it! We are so appreciative to have the opportunity to enable students to become the stars of the show, and we cannot wait to kick off this new season of educational programs.
Sincerely,
Heather Szapary, Executive Director
