Teach 4th grade students in a science curriculum-based program outdoors
Manage behaviors in full-class as well as smaller groups
Special projects and light maintenance of the facility
Daily set-up and clean-up (some heavy lifting – on and off a boardwalk)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND ANTICIPATED DATES:
Programs scheduled during the 2019-2020 school year (anticipate end of August through March).
Fourth grade program (EarthkeepersTM) is three days/zero nights at Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve on the West Bank.
Approximately 20 sessions anticipated for 2019-2020 school year.
Training will occur from August 26, 2019 through the end of September.
The first week will be paid, overnight, all-staff training. Overnight attendance for this week of training, Mon-Fri. is mandatory for all Earth Educator positions.
Bachelor's degree preferred
Strong commitment to children and learning
Experience with teaching children
Able to work in outdoor environments (variety of weather conditions)
Performance/acting skills a plus
Must have a car
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Part-time EarthkeepersTM (4th grade program) salary is paid on a per day basis which begins at $75 per day during training and increases to $93 per day with the first program.
