LAVA

Sunship Earth Educator

Lava earned a BFA in Studio Art with minors in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Philosophy from Washington University in St. Louis in 2020. Her experience ranges from leading back-packing trips for college students to teaching a variety of skills such as dance, outdoor appreciation, and cross-country running to students from 9-18 years old.

One of Lava’s many accomplishments includes finishing a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, a 2,200+ mile hike, from April to October of 2022. A self-described nature enthusiast, Lava believes that one of the best ways to move towards a sustainable Earth is to teach and inspire the next generation to have an attitude of reverence and respect for our planet. She brought her extensive skills and creativity to T.R.E.E. in 2023 as a part-time Earth Educator at the overnight Sunship Programs.

When she is not teaching at T.R.E.E., she works as an artist and teaches courses in stained glass at the New Orleans School of Glassworks.
