Beat the Heat with the Power Miler Track Club

As children learn in our programs, the Sun is a vital source of energy for life on this planet. But, when it comes to running in New Orleans, the Sun can prove to be quite the adversary.

Here are 3 tips from a Power Miler for beating the heat on race day.

1.) Prepare for it. Some runners find it helpful to train in new gear,

2.) Set realistic expectations. Preparation for the heat can only take you so far.

3.) Change your mindset. Everyone will be running in the same heat, so don’t get discouraged.

The Power Mile Road Race is the 2018 RRCA Louisiana One Mile State Championship, a chip-timed road race on a USATF certified course in Lakeview, New Orleans. Preceding the ‘Elite’ heat will be a Youth Half Mile race and the Open One Mile race (all ages and abilities).
