Now Hiring Full-time Assistant Coordinator (Day Program)

FULL-TIME ASSISTANT COORDINATOR AND EARTH EDUCATOR (DAY PROGRAM)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach 4th grade students in a science curriculum-based program outdoors
  • Manage behaviors in full-class as well as smaller groups
  • Mealtime duties
  • Special projects and light maintenance of the facility
  • Daily set-up and clean-up (some heavy lifting on and off boardwalk)

Additional Responsibilities for Full-time

  • Assist Earthkeepers Coordinator with:
    • Pre and post program school visit
    • Pre session preparations
    • Office duties related to program
  • Assist program team with social media
  • Participant database entry
  • Photo downloads and cataloging
  • Repair and creation of program props
  • Coordinating carpool with part-time staff to job-site
  • Other organizational projects as needed

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND ANTICIPATED DATES:

  • Programs scheduled during the 2018-2019 school year (anticipate September through March).
  • Fourth grade program (EarthkeepersTM) is three days/zero nights at Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve on the West Bank.
  • Approximately 20 sessions anticipated for 2018-2019 school year.
  • Training will occur from August 27, 2018 through the end of September.
  • The first week will be paid, overnight, all-staff training. Overnight attendance for this week of training, Mon-Fri. is mandatory for all Earth Educator positions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Strong commitment to children and learning
  • Experience with children
  • Able to work in outdoor environments (variety of weather conditions)
  • Flexible schedule
  • Performance/acting skills a plus
  • Must have a car

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Full-time Earthkeepers Assistant Coordinator for 2018-2019 will be a 10 month position (August 27 – June 28 taking in consideration of hiring date) with a salary of $26,000.
